I have my VEMS board now, and am deciding what to do first to get on my way to having it work. Looks like I'm going to make up an RS-232 connector and communicate with the 'lil board that way. With any luck, I'll have RS-232 and keyboard working tonight.

Wired up what might just be the world's ugliest RS-232 cable. Pics to follow.

Acquired my 20x4 Backlit LCD display. It's HD44780 compatible, and has a greenish backlight. Nice and cheap too!

This is the ebay auction:

And this is the spec sheet:

Total cost was $17usd shipped to my door. Not bad!

After a year's hiatus, I finally have time to work on the GenBoardV3.1, along with a car to put it in. My poor Escort GT's engine died and it took me a long time to get a new one fitted with a limited budget and no garage to work in (but I got it done)

Now just working on fitting the necessary components to the GenBoardV3.1 in order to get it running / working for my application.

Solder

Richard: Now you tell me. :) I already soldered them to the top. No need to desolder (although not hard with a soldersucker). The MPX4250AP can be elevated with spacer at the 2 screws: cutting 2 short pieces of 6x4 pneumatic tube is perfect for this. In fact it's usually elevated a little to align better with the pneumatic connector mounted in the frontplate drill between EC36 and EC18

I'll doublecheck R154=10k tonight.
