MembersPage/NikoVolvoT6/StartupInvestigation

We can investigate via project details, wiring, measurements and logs collected on thematical page.

See v3/20423 specs on MembersPage/NikoVolvoT6

We even created a project page for your convenience before manufacturing and shipping (specs also sent in email), but it only helps if you update it. Really. It is required for technical help.

Summary: Engine runs, but starts up hard when cold (starts good 2nd time)

Maybe the trigger is not as you think. Perhaps primary trigger on engine is VR sensor (what is measured resistance?), but ECU has HALL input.

Or slighlty stronger trigger pullup resistor needed (in harness eg. 27k between primtrig input EC36/pin27 and EC36/pin28 +5V). Even if both ECU-s are good, one might not work if, with the given sensors the setup is slightly on the edge, so it must be verified (even if no problem, but very thoroughly in case of any problem).

Project wiring (list preferred, not drawing) and details with measurements (DC voltage and preferrably scope as well) and logs collected on thematical page will be the starting point for investigation. It is required, and not feasible without.

Please note that as clearly noted in email and on the page,

v3/20423 Flyback: 30V (not LowZ active flyback 8ch)

That means

VEMS ECU-s are tested carefully before shipping. The setup must be examined carefully and documented with configs, logs and measurements on thematical page to find the problem, possibly a misunderstanding of ECU options. But very same required to verify that all wiring and settings are good (in case there is ECU HW problem: rare, but cannot be ruled out at this stage).

Purchased new ecu some time ago(over year)

Ecu is working fine when i get engine running, but getting engine running is very hard. I have first issues at my own car first ever startup, with that fully new ecu and wiring etc.

When I crank engine, trigger log is good and not any errors with it, but engine flooded very easily. I change other coils and again new plugs and nothing happened, same thing with new coils and new plugs. I tried with smaller stock injectors and same thing happened. I try and test and change cranking/afterstart and reqfuel parameters if they are wrong but then

When I get engine running i can shut it down and it fires up very easily and keeps running steady immediately.

I dont mind it then cause my car is project situation and it sit in garage over 8 months then.

Last week my friends racecar with vems ecu have bad engine failure and his own ecu goes broken (why, how exactly?) and i give my own ecu to use for him, we transfer him config to my ecu and checked pinout and check every sensor calibration etc and try to crank it up.. it does same thing as my own car does. Must be cranked many long cranks and then it suddenly fires up somehow and then it keeps running fine. Every sensor, every injector and other electric harness and system is now different but ecu. Same ecu, same fault. Can my ecu checked or measured somehow is it fault or what is wrong with it. I have tuned and wired up many vems ecus for my own and for my friends cars, never have this kind of problems.

Hard start ecu serial nr is: 20423. Do you need to know some other information to help me?

Yes

collected on thematical page will be the starting point for investigation. Required, simply not feasible without.

If a number is relevant, measure it ! Document it (with ECU pin references) ! Phrase it (from config, but also have saved config for verification).

note: Connect the grounds strong. At least 5 grounds, please list and measure.
