Big Six Turbo
BMW called M30 engines as "Big Six" (M20, just like mine is "Little Six"). This page is about an M30B34 turbo engine, originally in a 745i from 1985.
It's not a weak car even it's stock form (3.5 Turbo, automatic),
but this engine will go into a light chassis (e30), with manual gearbox and possibly motor tuning, more efficient turbo design, etc.
Here I try to put together what's needed to GenBoard it :)
Original setup
Car outlines originally:
- Engine: M30B34 turbo, 3400cc, 6 cyl inline, 12 Valves, SOHC
- Fuel injection: Bosch injectors (part no. 0 280 150 200?) maybe 270 cc/min@3bars. R=? Ohms. Needs to be verified
- Fuel pump: Stock
- Stock pressure regulator
- Turbo: stock KKK K27
- Idle control : stock. (What kind? need to be verified)
- Intake: stock AFM, Small stock air-to-air intercooler
- Factory throttle pos switch (3 state; idle, between and WOT?)
- stock 60 teeth VR crank-trigger no missing tooth AFAIK! This will need to be replaced by the late model M30B35 with 60-2.
- Cam position sensor?
- Coolant sensors?
- Knock. Two factory installed knock sensors.
- More sensors: O2 sensor? , IAT?
- orig ECU: Bosch Motronic 0 046 430 136 0
