I'm having a lot of difficulty reading the CAN Stream from the recently purchased AiM2CAN module https://www.vems.hu/wiki/index.php?page=AimToCanBusPinout
I use a AiM PDM08 module to read CAN. Unfortunately this does not read RS232. So, I'm trying to setup CAN, with the CAN_DASH vems module.
I've put in the CAN protocol DBC file from here, into the PDM08:
https://www.vems.hu/wiki/index.php?page=AimCanBusMessages
The PDM08 can read some CAN packets, I can see this in the AiM software. It's also reporting that the CAN bus is working as it should. But all channels show zero.
I believe termination is setup correctly. The blue LED on the CAN_DASH module blinks at 1hz, when everything is on.
I'm currently trying to have this setup on the first RS232 serial from the vems v3, before moving on to the second serial.
I've tinkered quite a lot and found that it seems to be working at 500kbits. This info is not availeble anywhere?
I started on V3 FW 1.1.96. Tried upgrading to 1.2.44. no changes.
I would also like to verify that the V3 is actually broadcasting the AiM RS232 stream, anyway to read this in VemsTune?
Any suggestions? Thank you.
Edit:
I Believe I might have a problem with the Aim2CAN (CAN-Dash) adapter. When the adapter is connected to the Vems V3 it changes the config in the V3. When I connect with Vemstune after having tried the adapter on the first serial, I get all kinds of reports of conflicts and errors in the config. This ofcourse goes away after I upload the correct config file again. This happens 100% of the times when the adapter is connected to serial no.1. When using firmware 1.1.96. When using firmware 1.2.44 this does not happen.
I removed the RS232-RX pin on the ECU and then ofcourse the adapter does not make any changes in the V3 config, with FW 1.1.96.
This cannot be correct? Do I need new firmware for the adapter?
Thanks.
