I was unable to find any trigger information from the M106 it was used only in very old (1982-1986 E23 745i ) 7-Series body; For the m30b35 however (delivered in many bodies but most notably the 1987-1992 E34 535. [http://vems.hu/files/BMW/BMW_M30B35/ wiring diagram] Page #97 seems to suggest this engine needs a primary = VR / secondary = VR ecu. Other than trigger side, there are no uncertainties in his order (so good). I would ask him to confirm if the trigger on his engine is indeed the OEM VR/VR as wiring diagram suggests or if he has retrofitted some HALL/HALL other option (in that case HALL/HALL might be fine).
