Introduction

In the progress of installing Genboard 3.3 on a Yamaha R6 engine, a 600cc motorcycle engine from the year 2000. Had som initial problems, but now the engine has fired up! Just have to adjust it to run properly.

Data on the setup/install

The engine is an 600cc, inline 4-cyl, fourstroke motorcycle engine. Revlimit ~15500rpm, firingorder 1342. I'm using the stock passive COP, connected in series (=> wastefire). Injectors are high impedance Bosch-units of standard design.

The CPS is working together with a 8-1 wheel (modified stock wheel from a '05 Yamaha Fazor motorcycle, perfect fit on this engine). No cam sensor.

The GenBoard is a preassembled v3.3-board with the following options:

4+4 ignition drivers

Knock + 2 EGT

250kPa onboard MAP

PowerFlyBack

VR Primary Trigger

Hall Secondary trigger

[Schematics].

Trigger problem

The engine currently runs fine on the dyno, but I have an ignition timing problem. I'm using a 8-1 trigger wheel, triggering on the second tooth, which gives only fifteen degrees to TDC. Since I want to be able to run with an advance of about 50-55 deg, this is way to little. When I try to change configuration to trigger on another teeth (e.g. teeth #1, which would give me 75 degrees to play with) the engine won't start. I've tried every possible configuration (using both TDC's as reference), but the engine does only start with the configuration I first mentioned. Where have I gone wrong? Please help, greatly appreciated!
