1981 Volvo 242 DL

DSC00020.jpg

The car is a '81 2-door Volvo.

My 'first' car, rebuilding it as a 'rallycar' for the streets.

Fabric new B21ET engine.

Q&A:

Q: also considering wasted spark ?

A: No, I'm not considering wasted spark on this engine.

Q: what is the tooth-pattern of the crankwheel ?

A: Here is the trigger wheel triggerwheel.jpg

Q:

do you already have the injectors ?

maybe you plan to upgrade to bigger injectors anyway ?

what flyback solution do you have in mind ?

do you have some [Power resistors] or willing to solder 4x27 Ohm 5W in parallel (for each injector!) ? This way, with 30V transient flyback it would be much easier to tune (especially at idle)

A: I do have power resistors, but I've ordered some 605cc high-z from racetronix.

Update 2007-05-31

Trigger problems!

Only while cranking, if I crank it just once the RPM jumps to ex. 100, 5000 rpm and so on. It stops when I reset the power to the VEMS.

This would probably be a problem when the engine is running too.

Any ideas? Yes, all the grounds are correct.. power and ground is drawn directly from the battery in the rear, 6mm2 cables.

The strange thing is it only occurs after cranking, resetting the power solves it.

Coil-type trigger, 1GT101, no filtering (see picture for triggerwheel - acid primer and black paint on the wheel, should'nt be a problem?)
