Hello,

I would like to use MS-AVR to control fuel and ignition on a 1994 Volvo 850 turbo engine. For clearance reasons I'd like to eliminate the stock distributor cap from its' location and use a DIS for ignition. Does anybody have knowledge of MS-AVR controlling a DIS on a 5 cylinder engine (Audi, Volvo, MBenz)? Also, I can adapt coils from later model 850 engines to mine but I need to figure out a mechanism for dwell control if the MS-AVR can handle timing on the 5 cylinder.

Any information regarding MS-AVR on 5 cylinder engines would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

A. you need a cam trigger (1-tooth preferred), and appropriate configuration.

Specify clearly what Input Trigger you have? Btw, check InputTrigger/AudiTrigger if your crank trigger is > 60-2 teeth.

A. I'm working with the Volvo T5 engine which has a 60-2 trigger on the flywheel as the factory RPM input (VR type sensor). There is also a cam postition sensor which sends a 5v supply to a Hall sensor, which is grounded when a rotor passes, giving a 0 voltage to indicate TDC on #1 cylinder.

A. GenBoard commands dwell, you only need to specify time and slope (vs. VBatt) for your coils.
