** yesterday I bought 2 sets ( each set contains 3 coils ) of GM coils from a local junkyard I will try to take some pics

== MSD Ignition # 8224 ==

( GM DIS type )

msd-8224_m.jpg

* Specifications

::Primary Resistance: 0.35 ohms

::Secondary Resistance: 7.8K ohms

::Maximum Voltage: 40,000 volts

::Inductance: 4.2 mH

::Turns Ratio: 80:1

*This coil looks nice. 12.6V over the primary (14V VBatt - 1.4V drop on IGBT) means roughly 12.6V/4.2mH=3A/msec current rampup slope. 2msec dwell (6A peak) looks like a good starting value, and it should probably bear 3msec (9A peak current) at 14V VBatt.

*each one costs about $40. I like it, maybe we could stock them in WebShop, some on each continent. At least I cannot get good wasted-spark coils for $40 locally (old continent) in small quantities.
