Q: Are these MSD p/n 8224 "GM 2-Tower Coil Pack" ok to use with the IGBTs ? $FlgChr1$FlgChr< http://www.msdignition.com/coil_blaster_9_8224.htm $FlgChr2$FlgChr< Their low resistance (0.35 Ohms) suggests a high flyback voltage. Can the IGBTs handle that? $FlgChr3$FlgChr< According to the PDF instructions they can be used for stock replacement on some vehicles, in some cases using ballast resistors, and ultimately the MSD DIS-4 CDI unit is suggested. Pure CDI coils typically have much lower resistance (<0.01 Ohm), this is a half-breed. Will it work as a regular inductive coil?
OK to use with the IGBTs ?

* http://www.msdignition.com/coil_blaster_9_8224.htm

* Low resistance (0.35 Ohms). Not so low inductance: 4.2mH

According to the PDF instructions they can be used for stock replacement on some vehicles, in some cases using ballast resistors, and ultimately the MSD DIS-4 CDI unit is suggested. Pure CDI coils typically have much lower resistance (<0.01 Ohm), this is a half-breed. Will it work as a regular inductive coil? Can the IGBTs handle that?

* 14V / 4.2 mH = 3.3 A/msec so with max 2..3 msec dwell you should be OK.

* Check if the spark energy is suitable for you at 2.2 msec it's ideally I*I*L/2= (3.3 * 2.2)**2 * 0.0042 / 2 = 111 mJ (appr max 100 mJ in realty)
